Today marked Murphy's sixth day with us, and it's like every morning I wake up to a different puppy...
Fall foliage is in full swing, and on this surprisingly mild day, we headed out for a short hike in Guilford.
There's really nothing to say about it that's not already said in the colors and the expression on Comet's face.
Fall arrived, and the weekend brought with it the first hints of fall weather, with two days cool enough to merit a walk at the preserve in jeans and a t-shirt.
Fall also means the big fields at the East River Preserve have been hayed, which gave the dogs the chance to show off their agility with some lazy, graceful jumps up to the top of the bales for a quick photo-op.
On the way out, I got pretty close to this guy in a tree at the edge of the field. Flycatchers are notoriously hard to ID, but I think it's an Eastern Phoebe.
I love the feeling of fall coming on, with brisk breezes that smell of dry leaves and the cool bite of the next season, but I do miss the birds who leave for warmer climes.
